Director Ranjith Balakrishnan’s movie in progress ‘Leela’, based on the short story of the same name by Unni R, has been banned. The producers had decided a strike over the dispute on the revised payment of the employees of FEFKA (Film Employees Federation of Kerala). The ban was imposed on the movie for not going along with the protest.
Rajiv Ravi’s movie ‘Kammaatiti Paadam’, starring Dulquar Salmaan and the movie ‘Leela’, under Ranjith’s direction had gone forward anyway, without bothering about the strike. Though Rajiv Ravi had stopped his movie under severe pressure Ranjith went along with his movie.
Ranjith and Rajiv had moved forward with the movie agreeing to an increased pay for the technicians. The movies have been banned citing that this was not a decision agreed upon by their association. The production company Capitol Films was removed from the association pertaining to the movie ‘Leela’ which started its shooting on January 1st.
