One of the most aniticipated Malayalam movies of this year, ‘Aami’ is by reports starting to roll from September 25th. The movie, based on the life of writer Late Kamala Surayya a.k.a Madhavikutty, is director Kamal’s next venture.
This movie will also mark the comback of Vidya Balan to Malayalam cinema after a gap of five years. She last appeared in Urumi in 2011. Even being a Malayalee from Palakkad, Vidya wasn’t much explored in Malayalam. She will play the role of Kamal Surayya in the film.
The film will have Prithviraj as the narrator and Murali Gopy as Vidya’s husband. Anoop Menon will also play an important role in the film. Other details about the cast and crew are yet to be revealed.
Earlier the film was in news for the statement made by the director Kamal. “I know very well that this film will be controversial. It’s based on the life of a popular writer, as I interpret it. There will be difference in interpretations and I am ready to face it”.
Late Kamala Surraya is an award winning controversial writer. She was known as Aami to her near ones and thus Kamal did not had to search for a title. She passed away at the age of 75 in 2009.
The movie written by the director himself is expected to wind up the shoot by November 5th.
