Aashiq Abu Against Rishiraj Singh’s ’14-Second Staring’ rule

“There are sections in law to jail a man for annoyingly staring at a woman for 14 seconds. Please use it” . The state excise commissioner Rishiraj Singh came out with this statement last week while speaking in an event organised by a charitable trust in Kochi. This statement went viral and people started mocking him on social media platforms.

Now director Aashiq Abu has come up against Singh’s statement. He says that Rishiraj Singh is speaking just like the moral polices, stating women are ‘objects’ that can’t be looked at.

“What all foolish laws do we have here? Isn’t it indirectly telling that women are ‘objects’ that can’t be looked at for more than 14 seconds? This is the same voice of moral polices who say they are ’saving’ women!” stated the director sharing the news article by BBC on Facebook. “I didn’t get the logic behind this rule. No matter how much time it is, looking someone strangely is a crime. This is the reason for trolls being made about this comment” added the director later.
