Samyuktha Varma, who entered filmdom through Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal in 1999, used to a favourite with the Mollywood audience before she left the scene following her marriage with actor Biju Menon in 2002. They are one of the perfect and happy couples in Malayalam Cinema. Samyuktha Varma believes this is all Gods blessing.
Meanwhile, unlike other celebrity couples, Biju and Samyuktha have always maintained a low profile when it comes to their personal life. Biju says his wife wants to focus on taking care of their family and son Daksh Darmik, and doesn’t want to remain on the limelight.
In 1999, Samyuktha Varma was in the shoot of Chandranudikkunna Dikkil. She was along with Kavya Madhavan, both were newcomers. They were sitting some distance away from the seniors like Biju Menon, Dileep and Manju Warrier. A film magazine was brought by someone and Biju Menon started reading aloud the contents of the magazine. By pure coincidence there was an article about Samyuktha where she was praised, using words like ‘upcoming actress’ and ‘bright promise’, on her debut film.
After this they grew close. Although there wasn’t much time for romance for both of them. It ended in a love-cum arranged marriage since both families are from Thrissur and knew each other.
Biju and Samyuktha tied the knot on 21st of November 2002 in Guruvayoor Temple as Samyuktha is a great devotee of Guruvayoorappan.
“His biggest plus point is that he has remained close to his middle-class roots,” says Samyuktha in an interview given to a Newspaper. “So he loves to attend ganamelas, have tea at wayside shops, or attend the Thrissur Pooram. But now it is becoming increasingly difficult because we have become well-known.”
After her marriage, Samyuktha has been featured on various magazines and has acted in advertisements for Dhathri. While Biju is having a consistent career graph now, many of Samyuktha’s fans have been waiting to see her back on the silver screen soon.
