Zee TV bags satellite rights to 2.0 for 110 crores

Actor Rajinikanth’s 350-crore movie 2.0. directed by filmmaker Shankar and scheduled for release 0n Deepavali this year, has joined the 1100-crore club es-en before the release of the film’s official teaser. On Monday. Lyca Productions’ creative head. Raju Mahalingam, confirmed that the Tamil, Hindi and Telugu satellite rights have been sold for 2110 crore to Zee Television. The 110 crore deal is only for the film’s satellite rights. We are in talks with Amazon Prime and Netflix for the film’s digital rights.” said Raju Mahalingam.

Despite the huge price tag. what is also interesting is that Zee Television has been given the rights only for a period of 15 years. “Usually films are sold out right. We were able to sell it at such a price for 15 years,” he said.

While the theatrical rights of the film are yet to be sold, it is believed that the Hindi rights alone could be sold for over 100 crore. “The negotiation for Tamil theatrical rights hasn’t even started yet.

Post-production is in full swing. The Japanese and the Chinese rights will be sold separately,” he said. Filming was wrapped up last year with the exception of minor shots. “Shankar and team will go to the U.S. to join the team that is working on post-production,” Mr. Ma-halingam said.
