The Taiwanese G.Skill has long specialized in the production of high performance DDR4 memories, with kits that are certified to operate at very high clock frequencies even in combination with high timings. This is a very interesting value for a high-end desktop system, to be used both for particularly demanding processing areas such as for gaming in combination with one of the latest generation GPUs from NVIDIA and AMD.
These memories are certified to operate up to the actual clock frequency of 4GHz (DDR4-4000), in combination with particularly high timings: in fact we are talking about programmed values equal to 17-18-18-38 with a supply voltage of 1.4V that higher than the default of 1.2V typical of DDR4 memories.
The structure of the modules is the classic one of the TridentZ Royal models by G.Skill: we therefore find an aluminum plate with a glossy finish, actually mirror, with a series of RGB LED mounted above the memory module and covered by a transparent structure with an irregular profile that generates a particular lighting effect during use.
We tested these memories using an AMD X570 chipset platform, paired with the Ryzen 9 5900X processor with 12-core architecture. The operation with the specification parameters did not reveal any kind of problem with this platform, allowing to keep the timing from specification. The architectural innovations implemented by AMD with i Ryzen 5000 series processors, based on Zen 3 architecture, also allow the use of DDR4-4000 memory with a good probability that the divider of the Infinity Fabric link operates in sync with the memory and in this way maximizing its speed performance. AMD has already reported how with upcoming AGESA updates for the bios of AM4 socket motherboards it will implement better memory support up to such high clock frequencies, in view of those who want to dedicate themselves to overclocking and to obtain the maximum possible speed performance. from your system.
The anything but cheap kit, by virtue of the very high clock frequency for which it is certified and the overall capacity of 32GB. The corresponding 16GB kit is sold for about 250 VAT included in the Italian market.
