According to the head of the Ukrainian customs Maxim Nefyodov, respirators from Ukraine, video of the unloading of which in Spain was shown by activists, were taken abroad in early March, before the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers to ban the export of medical goods.
Ukraine, bypassing the ban on the export of medical goods, exported a batch of respirators abroad, activist Vitaliy Manko said on Facebook on March 20.
He posted a video of unloading respirators in Spain.
“Bypassing the ban. The Spanish Radio and Television Corporation reported that it received a batch of respirators from Ukraine. Report March 19, 2020. What will the chief customs officer answer?” – wrote Manko.
The head of the State Customs Service of Ukraine Maxim Nefyodov explained on Facebook that the delivery is legal.
“The media reported on how respirators from Ukraine unload from a car in Spain. These masks were exported on March 2 and 6 and are legal delivery of goods. Respirators crossed the Ukrainian border on March 3 and 7, respectively, flying to Istanbul “Government decree No. 214, which prohibits the export of medical goods and medicines, in particular respirators, was adopted on March 11,” the official wrote.
He emphasized that customs complies with laws.
“After the ban was introduced, customs officers, border guards and law enforcement officers stopped the export of more than 260 thousand masks and respirators abroad,” Nefyodov said.
As of 9:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 47 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Ukraine – this is six more than the days before. Three people died, one was cured.
