A 15-year-old teenager was the victim of a major earthquake that occurred in central Croatia.
On the morning of March 22 in Croatia an earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred, the outbreak was 7 km from the country’s capital Zagreb, according to the Večernji list.
The depth of the hypocenter was 10 km.
The first strong shock was felt for about 10 seconds, then several aftershocks followed.
A 15-year-old teenager died in Zagreb, an ambulance service said. He was found among the wreckage of a collapsed house, taken to the hospital, where doctors stated his death.
Dozens of houses in the capital and suburbs are destroyed or damaged. Citizens are asked not to approach power poles.
The roof of the Basilica of the Heart of Christ in Zagreb collapsed, part of the ceiling fell on the altar. The damage to the historic building is huge, but none of the clergy were injured, the rector of the cathedral told the publication.
