In connection with the pandemic of coronavirus infection, the 73rd International Cannes Film Festival will not take place at the previously scheduled date – May 12-23. This was announced on the official website of the event.
Several options are being considered to hold a festival in Cannes, the main is to postpone it until the end of June – beginning of July 2020.
The organizers emphasized that they are constantly in contact with the French government and the city hall of Cannes.
On March 10, President of the Cannes Film Festival Pierre Lescourt suggested that due to an outbreak of coronavirus, the event would have to be canceled.
In France, according to the World Health Organization on March 19, 7652 cases were registered, 175 people died.
