China has placed restrictions on the publication of scientific studies on the origin of coronavirus. It is reported by the American television channel CNN, citing notifications that were published on the website of two Chinese universities, but subsequently deleted.
Now all scientific articles about COVID-19 should be submitted for review before publication.
A medical expert in Hong Kong, who collaborated with researchers in mainland China, told CNN that back in February, scientific work was not subjected to such tests.
The channel believes that the new restrictions are due to the fact that some studies on the origin of coronavirus have cast doubt on the official position of the Chinese government on the start date of the outbreak. In particular, we are talking about the first cases of the disease in Wuhan and transmission from person to person.
A Chinese scientist, on condition of anonymity, suggested that a government decision would impede the conduct of important research. He believes that official Beijing may intend to introduce coronavirus as an infection brought into China from abroad.
