Ukrainian wholesale companies sharply and unreasonably raise prices for the components of the grocery basket, said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko said he complained to the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) about the rise in price of food in the context of the coronavirus epidemic. He announced this on March 25 on Facebook.
“No one has the right to unjustifiably raise prices and profit from Ukrainians during an epidemic! I handed over to the head of the Antimonopoly Committee Yury Terentyev analytical information about wholesale companies that allow themselves to sharply and unreasonably raise prices for food and vegetables, which form the basis of the grocery basket of ordinary Ukrainians,” He wrote.
The deputy minister stressed that Ukraine has enough reserves “to provide food for Ukrainians for many months.”
“I look forward to the antimonopoly investigation of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine on the facts of a sharp, unreasonable increase in prices for essential goods, which could be the result of a conspiracy of large wholesalers,” Gerashchenko said.
