Copenhagen (dpa) – The counter-strike team Astralis signed Patrick «es3tag» Hansen as the sixth player. The Danish team announced. This makes Astralis the first large CS: GO team to employ a permanent substitute.
Astralis won three major tournaments in a row and one Intel Grand Slam with his current players. However, the team fell short of expectations in the current year.
At Blast Premier: Spring they were eliminated without a win in the group stage. At the IEM Katowice in February they lost to the eventual tournament winner NaVi in the semifinals.
A permanent sixth player is also important to ensure the health and performance of the players, said Kasper Hvidt, Director of Sports at the Astralis Group. However, it is only part of the team from July 1st. He’s still under contract with his old Team Heroic.
