Matthias Platzeck, according to Rambler, is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, the mayor of Potsdam in 1998-2002, and the Prime Minister of Brandenburg in 2002-2013. The other day, he told Neues Deutschland that without Russia, peace and a bright future are impossible in Europe.
“Moreover, if we act against Russia,” the politician added.
According to him, in the 1990s, Europe was friendly towards Moscow, because Russia was weak, and then, when it grew stronger and intended to become a world power, it ceased, refusing to accept Russia as part of a common security architecture.
Matthias Platzek expressed confidence that Europe should stay together with Russia, maintaining a reasonable partnership with it, otherwise after 20 years, when the world is divided into two military-economic poles (North America and East Asia), it will be left without natural resources, alternative energy and high technology.
