The FNOMCEO Italian Federation of Medical Workers Guilds has created a list of doctors who have died from coronavirus infection, and updates it every day.
In Italy, 14 doctors have already died due to the coronavirus pandemic. The list of dead physicians is published by the website of the Federation of Medical Guilds of Italy FNOMCEO. It is constantly updated.
The first victim of coronavirus among doctors was Roberto Stella – President of the Varese Medical Association. He died on March 11th.
Among the dead – pulmonologists, general practitioners, pediatrician, epidemiologist, otolaryngol and hematologist. All of them are men.
The last dead – hematologist, professor, specialist in vascular diseases at the University of Parma Giuseppe Finzi.
“The official number of infected medical workers is growing … Many doctors die suddenly, and the cause of death is not always associated with the virus, because studies are not done,” the organization said.
As of March 17, in Italy, the number of coronavirus-infected health workers is at least 2,629.
An outbreak of coronavirus infection COVID-19 began in late 2019 in China. March 11, the World Health Organization announced the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
According to Johns Hopkins University, as of the morning of March 20, 244,517 people were infected with coronavirus infection worldwide, the number of deaths was 10,030 people, 86,026 people recovered. Italy is on second place after China in terms of the number of infected and victims of a new infection: 41,035 and 3405 people, respectively.
Since March 11, strict quarantine measures have been in force in Italy. The authorities closed all educational institutions, shops (except grocery and pharmacies), as well as bars and restaurants, banned mass meetings, canceled all sports events. Limitations will last until at least March 25th.
