“According to the investigation, the chairman of the commission on the liquidation of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine, an official of the Department for Support of the Ministry of Justice and a former official of this ministry, was involved in the deal. Special services operatives established that, with the mediation of the leaders of two Kiev commercial structures, officials demanded $ 75 thousand from a farmer from Kirovograd region . “, The message says.
For this, the farmer was promised the appointment of the director of one of the state agricultural enterprises in the region.
“The conspirators promised to ensure a guaranteed position through the connections of a former official of the Ministry of Justice, who poses as a“ shadow curator of the land administration executive service. ”In addition, the attackers demanded an additional payment of $ 1 million from the farmer. The participants in the transaction convinced the client that he would“ beat off ” “this money after the appointment by leasing land plots with an area of more than 3 thousand hectares belonging to an agricultural enterprise,” the intelligence agency said.
Three participants of the “scheme” were detained upon receiving the first part of the bribe, $ 20 thousand, another, alleged organizer, in the office in the building of the State Penitentiary Service of Ukraine.
Criminal proceedings are open under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of a proposal, promise or undue gain by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
On March 12, Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denis Malyuka said that in his department, with the participation of the SBU, an employee was detained who took a bribe on his last working day.
