Berlin (dpa) – The hope for a start of the Formula 1 season in early June also seems to be shattered. According to media reports, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix is facing a shift.
The Grand Prix is supposed to take place on June 7 in Baku. The authorities in Azerbaijan are said to have spoken out in a crisis meeting for the postponement.
Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the setup for the city race could no longer be met in time. The earliest start of the season would be on June 14th with the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
The motorsport premier class had to cancel the races in Australia, Bahrain, China, Vietnam, the Netherlands, Spain and Monaco for the planned dates by the end of May. Actually, 22 races were supposed to take place in one season for the first time this year. It is currently not possible to predict how many actually will be. Formula 1 has already launched a virtual racing series for fans.
