Of the 100 million rubles allocated from the Russian budget for the film Crimean Bridge. Made with Love, Russian journalist Margarita Simonyan received 9 million rubles as a screenwriter, and her husband Tigran Keosayan received 14 million rubles for directing.
Russian businessman Arkady Rotenberg allocated 54 million rubles for the film Crimean Bridge. This is stated in the investigation of the founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund and opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The FBK said that in 2016 the studio of the actor and TV presenter Tigran Keosayan “8 rows” applied for money from the Film Fund to shoot a film based on the script of his wife, Russian journalist Margarita Simonyan, but the Film Fund rejected it.
After that, the first deputy head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation Alexei Gromov asked to finance the comedy about the Crimean bridge to the Ministry of Culture. As a result, Keosayan’s studio received 100 million rubles for the shooting.
Of the allocated money, according to FBK, Simonyan received 9 million rubles as a screenwriter. Her husband Tigran Keosayan received another 14 million rubles for working as a director, the second director, 23-year-old daughter of Keosayan Alexandra, received 4 million rubles for working on the film. Another 8 million was earned by the general producer of the Crimean Bridge, Tigran’s brother Keosayan David, and his assistants, son Edmond and the wife of his son Juno Glotov, received a total of over 10 million rubles.
However, all the actors who played in the film received a total of 10 million rubles. According to FBK estimates, computer graphics for the film cost 17 million rubles, equipment and premises – 12 million rubles, camera crew – 10 million rubles, art workshop – 8 million rubles, taxes – 8 million rubles.
It follows from the FBK investigation that the money allocated for the film was not enough, and therefore it was additionally funded. To the account of Keosayan’s studio in the form of a “grant for the development of culture” 584 million rubles were received from the Fund for the Development of Cinematography, Education and Culture.
“The Foundation for the Development of Cinematography, Education and Culture employs one person, the foundation is registered in a panel house in Mitino, and for all the time of its existence (since 2013), it has not received and spent a penny of money on cinema or anything else related to In addition to 2017, when it was not known where it came from, 54 million were donated by the foundation to Keosayan’s studio, “the investigation said.
FBK found out that this money came from Arkady Rotenberg, whose company was engaged in the construction of the Crimean bridge.
Russia annexed Crimea after an illegal referendum on March 16, 2014. The accession of the peninsula to the Russian Federation is not recognized by Ukraine and most countries of the world. At present, there is a checkpoint between mainland Ukraine and Crimea, and Kiev does not de facto control the peninsula.
The bridge across the Kerch Strait connecting the annexed Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory of Russia was opened in May 2018. Ukrainian authorities called the bridge a threat to national security.
In September 2018, the premiere of the film “Crimean Bridge. Made with Love” was held in Russia.
