The total number of deaths in the state increased to 5489 people, the number of infected (including dead and recovered) in New York rose to 138,836 cases.
Thus, in terms of the number of cases, New York State overtook Italy, one of the European countries most affected by the pandemic, where 135,586 cases were registered.
