The Prosecutor General’s Office of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) opened a criminal case against former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on suspicion of organizing the murder of the commander of the Sparta battalion Arsen Pavlov with the call sign Motorola. It is reported by the Donetsk news agency.
“According to the investigation, the ex-president of Ukraine approved the plan of the murder of Pavlov, executed by the Ukrainian special services,” the Prosecutor General’s message said.
Poroshenko was put on the wanted list in accordance with part 4 of Article 230 of the DPR Criminal Code (“Organization of terrorist activities”). The fifth president of Ukraine in absentia elected a preventive measure in the form of detention. The Prosecutor General’s Office is now conducting further investigative actions.
Earlier, the DPR Ministry of State Security stated that the head of the counterintelligence department of the Security Service of Ukraine Aleksey Petrov was the customer who ordered the murder of Motorola.
The commander of the Sparta battalion Arseniy Pavlov (Motorola) died in October 2016: an explosive device went off in the elevator of the house in Donetsk where he lived. Pavlov – a native of Komi, participated in the hostilities in the area of Slavyansk, Donetsk airport and Debaltseve. He was awarded the St. George Cross of the DPR, the Order “For Military Valor” of the first degree, and was also awarded the title of Hero of the DPR.
