Stuttgart (dpa) – Professional tennis player Jan-Lennard Struff has spoken out in favor of a relocation of the Olympic Games in Tokyo due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“At the moment, I don’t think it is guaranteed that it is safe,” said the 29-year-old Sauerland employee at Sky.
The Davis Cup player also considers it “conceivable” to rule out the start for himself at the Olympic Games planned from July 24 to August 9, following the example of saber fencer and athlete activist Max Hartung. “It would be a shame, of course, because it’s a huge dream,” said Struff. “But you might have to resort to such means, because a move might be considered even more.”
