Most of the Russian supplies to Italy, which should serve to help fight the coronavirus, were called useless. Such a statement was made by senior sources cited by the newspaper La Stampa.
According to the source, 80 percent of the equipment from Moscow will not help in the fight against the virus. Supplies are allegedly used as an excuse for the political ambitions of country leaders.
Sources claim that Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte accepted Moscow’s help only to strengthen personal relations with its authorities. Russian President Vladimir Putin is also allegedly pursuing his political interests.
At the end of March, Russia sent several military transport aircraft Il-76 Aerospace Forces (VKS) to Italy. They brought there about 100 Russian specialists in the field of virology and epidemiology, as well as eight medical and nursing teams.
