We lack closeness, even more than the simple desire to go out. Here is how the interests and feelings of the Italians have changed according to the report produced by Reply per Repubblica
Coronavirus: from offline to online, so our consumption changes in pandemic times
Each country is facing the crisis differently, both in terms of resources and timing, but the analysis carried out on the ‘trends’ of the last two months (from January 15 to March 15) tells us about the change in attention in the various states.
Health, solidarity and family
Curious, for example, to observe how while for British and Spanish online research related to health were already well established before the pandemic, for Italians they reached a peak of attention and became more constant only after the first cases of the Lombard outbreaks in the end of February. Two other themes, however, says the Reply report, for Italians since the pandemic – and in part already before – are becoming increasingly important: solidarity and family.
The report then goes through a more detailed analysis of the feelings of the Italians. “Absolutely extraordinary in intensity, dynamics and as far as this differentiates Italians from other European peoples, there is the theme of solidarity, guided both by government initiatives, which have been able to coordinate the generosity of businesses and individuals, but also for the spirit of body that quickly established itself among all citizens. Solidarity has developed at all levels: companies, artists, influencers and individuals “, commented analysts linked to solidarity.
Money, love, sport and happiness
This topic, in the areas connected to the online research analyzed by the report, is by far the most marked, given that since mid-January it registered a + 1135% interest. Followed, among the topics sought, those related to health, learning or family, while the attention for money, love, sport, happiness or luck decrease.
Love without hugs
The physical tightening, that of hugs, kisses, contact, is instead what Italians miss most if they analyze the contents of social media, says the report. Since March 9, the day of restrictive isolation measures applied throughout the boot, the Italians have gradually and constantly increased publications and mentions relating to the lack of kisses and hugs and above all, show the curves of the report, the lack of family members or partner. More than the impossibility of being able to move, what Italians lack is therefore – say the Reply data – the opportunity for real contacts with other people.
All together passionately
If in bridging the distances video calls increase, use of Skype or Google Meet, the greatest attention in the family is linked to the construction of the sense of belonging to the core, which passes through “the creation of homemade food” (such as biscuits, bread or pizza) and activities to do “all together” (such as watching movies or games).
