In Ukraine, 240 hospitals have been identified for patients with coronavirus infection COVID-19, but if necessary, temporary hospitals can also be equipped outside health facilities, said Deputy Minister of Health – Chief Sanitary Officer of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is considering the possibility of placing temporary hospitals for patients with coronavirus infection COVID-19 in exhibition centers and sports palaces. This was announced at a briefing on March 31 by the Deputy Minister of Health – the chief sanitary doctor of Ukraine Viktor Lyashko, the GORDON correspondent reports.
“We have developed a draft interim recommendations for the deployment of hospitals outside healthcare facilities. We sent this project to two specialized academic institutes – the Institute of Public Health and the Institute of Epidemiology – to work out [идею], and after that we will see the possibility of placing additional beds if necessary in the so-called exhibition centers and sports palaces, “he said.
Lyashko noted that this can be avoided if Ukrainians observe quarantine.
“The main task today – adhere to the conditions [карантина]. All contacts, all patients, everyone who returned from abroad must withstand 14 days of self-isolation. Exactly self isolation – one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease “, – he said.
The chief sanitary doctor recalled that in Ukraine, 240 hospitals were identified for patients with COVID-19.
“This is the so-called first wave of hospitals … They have 67 thousand. beds, of which 11 thousand. – this is a profile for infectious patients, ” – said Lyashko.
According to him, second-wave hospitals will start accepting patients when more than 50% of the beds in first-wave hospitals are occupied by patients.
Near each hospital, points for medical sorting of patients with coronavirus are deployed.
“It is in them that with the massive influx of patients with coronavirus disease, sanitary sorting, in order to prevent patients without coronavirus disease in infectious hospitals, ” – said Lyashko.
