The National Bank of Ukraine has changed the principle of processing cash in connection with the outbreak of coronavirus to ensure the safety of its employees.
In Ukraine, cash will be stored for two weeks before being decontaminated so as not to harm the employees of the National Bank. About this during a briefing on March 12 in Kiev, said the head of the NBU Yakov Smoly, the correspondent of the publication “GORDON”.
“The process of processing cash in a central repository is a technological cycle where cash withdrawn from circulation of commercial banks that go to the NBU is recalculated, and suitable cash is issued for further circulation, and unusable cash is disposed of,” Smoly said.
He added that for the period of the outbreak of coronavirus the principle of processing money will be slightly different.
“Cash that will come from commercial banks will not be processed for two weeks to protect our employees. That is, cash that comes from the street on the second day there [в хранилища] they don’t get there, we have enough cash to back up banks and ATMs with normal, high-quality money, “said the head of the NBU.
