President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky noted that Ukrainian hospitals currently lack about 500 ambulances to work effectively against the backdrop of an outbreak of coronavirus.
Ukraine needs about 13 billion UAH for the purchase of medicines in order to combat the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said this on March 16 on the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV, answering a question that was discussed at his meeting with business representatives.
“We now urgently need 500 ambulances – this is the amount that is not enough for our hospitals … We are creating a separate fund. We will now need about 12-13 billion UAH for medicines,” the president said.
March 16 Zelensky met with representatives of big business. The OPU noted that the meeting was attended by owners and top managers of the largest Ukrainian companies and business groups. The press service did not name their names, but the published photo shows that, in particular, there were businessmen Igor Kolomoisky, Rinat Akhmetov and Alexander Yaroslavsky.
“At the meeting, the head of state discussed assistance from large businesses during measures to counter the proliferation of Ukraine COVID-19. In particular, it was about help with the purchase and delivery of large batches of tests, the necessary medical equipment, protective and disinfectants,” – told the press service.
In total, seven patients with coronavirus infection were recorded in Ukraine (four in the Chernivtsi region, two in Kiev, one of the cases, a 71-year-old resident of the Zhytomyr region, died). Six more Ukrainians are being treated with COVID-19 abroad.
