By its volume, the current economy of Ukraine is approximately 80% of the level of the economy of 1991, it needs to be revived. This opinion was expressed in an interview with GORDON by the adviser to the president of Ukraine, economist, member of the supervisory board of the International Blazer Fund Oleg Ustenko.
“How to revive the economy under quarantine, with complete closure of borders and unfavorable external factors? For example, make progress in terms of simplifying the quarantine system, make concessions that revitalize our economy. Ukraine has a certain margin of safety to stay afloat for several possible months of quarantine, ”the economist said.
In his opinion, this means that all forces must be devoted to the non-proliferation of coronavirus and the maintenance of the economy.
“Now the country is quarantined, isolated. The question arises: is it possible to defeat the coronavirus domestically, pass the peak of incidence and at the same time weaken restrictive measures to start the economy? This is difficult to do, since Ukraine’s margin of safety is really small, although it is. We are not the United States, which turned on the printing press and are not afraid to inflate inflation. We are not yet the European Union, which has large fat layers to support the economy. Therefore, in my understanding, we should try even in difficult conditions x restrictive measures to make concessions in matters of the economy – and then she spent three months working, “- Ustenko said.
