Self-isolation measures are not enough to defeat the coronavirus, decisive steps are needed to identify, isolate, test and treat the sick, said Tedros Adan Gebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO).
“Asking people to stay home and stop moving people is giving time to reduce pressure on health systems,” he said at a briefing in Geneva.
According to him, “these measures alone will not lead to an end” to the pandemic, RIA Novosti reports.
Gebreyesus added that “aggressive measures are needed to search for, isolate, test, treat, and identify contacts (sick people with healthy people – approx. LOOK)”.
Recall, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on declaring non-working days in the country from March 30 to April 3 with the preservation of wages to employees. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that during the non-working week in the context of the spread of coronavirus, all restaurants and cafes should be closed.
